I lose at poker because im an idiot and a hopeless gambler. Not because Im bad at poker! Yesterday was a good case in point where I came second in a $5 SNG to triple my buy in, then won a $2 Double up, then within minutes had lost it all playing a super turbo luckfest when my 88 lost in a coinflip to Ace Jack. You are supposed to be ahead with a pocket pair against overcards.Mathermatically 55% 45% favourite. So why the bloody hell did I lose again?why did i know i was gonna lose before the cards landed? and why do i always seem to lose coinflips? What say you to that Mr Probability?Where are you hiding Mr Maths? You can both shove your statistics up your standard deviation anomalies while I go for a pint. arghhhh
Another losing day :-)
LESSON: Good Poker players are not gamblers. They adhere to sensible bankroll management like the stuff outlined on this site. Unlike me, who thinks hes too smart to take his own advice.Idiot.

New Page - Bankroll Management
Bonjour
Added a page about bankroll management, its all the things I wish I listened to but dont, but it is definitely good advice that I have been told at various times, now collated for you to decided if you want to listen to it or not as well. If you're like me just ignore it, but if you want to get better at poker and stop losing money then its worth a look, you might get some new ideas or be reminded of old ones you conveniently chose to forget :-)

Drama even at the one dollar level
So to combat my horrendous downturn at the moment (which has been going since I started playing) I have decided to enter some really low buy in tournaments, last night going for a one dollar event on Titan, with three hundred odd players. Anyway as is the only thing to do in these tournaments I played super tight through the first few levels, and tried to avoid getting many chips in especially preflop. Just playing premium hands i managed two double ups by the second break, where only one hundred players remained and i was in a comfortable twenty something position. Would this be my first cash for months?!it certainly looked promising, although I should now point out that I didnt enter the tournament until nearly midnight, which does bring in hazards in itself. You guessed it, I managed to fall asleep, waking up over an hour later to see my chipstack completely wittled down to a couple blinds! I managed to limp into the money for about two dollars, making nearly a one dollar return after rake, what a fantastic way to return to winning form!
Lessons from a poker loser
Morning all
Most poker enthusiasts have shelves of books from successful players, and everyone looks for advice and tips from the pros. So the perspective you will get from this blog is somewhat different; as even though Im the first to offer anyone poker advice and consider myself a pretty good player, overall i lose money! However that doesnt mean there is nothing to learn from from watching my agonsing lurch from bank roll disaster to bad beat tilts, even if all you take out of it is to laugh at my misfortune or idiocy or decide to see if I would call and all in and make a mental note to do the opposite :-)
So from here in is my attempt to chronical all the disasters that will happen from this point onwards. To bring you up to speed, my biggest win was 1600 dollars in a 1000+ man tournament, so im not a complete slouch, although rest assured I am still a losing player!
